Staying Connected – Proud To Be An UMS Alumni

Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) is the 9th public university in Malaysia established on 24 November 1994. The following year, physical development began to take place on a 999-acre (4 km²) land, located at the northern part of Kota Kinabalu City and was launched in 2000.  UMS also opened its International Campus in Labuan in 1999, and an Agriculture Campus at Sandakan in 2011. This project is fully funded by the federal government and has truly changed the education landscape of Sabahans by providing education to many  local students who could not afford to go overseas. EcoCampus is also an initiative by UMS to enforce & encourage the practice of green campus concept. UMS is currently ranked 173th Greenest University Campus in the World by UI-GreenmetricWorld University Ranking and UMS strives to be the first green campus in Malaysia.

UMS Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Datuk Kamarudin D. Mudin said that UMS would ensure to produce ‘Future Proof’ graduates and adopts the Industry Transformation 4.0. Industry 4.0 represents the fourth industrial revolution in manufacturing and industry by transforming through automation and digitisation of the industrial techniques to transform into a smart industry and manufacturing goals in integration of people, new technologies and innovation.

24 years on, we have seen tremendous progress for UMS which have produced more than 66,548 graduates (alumni) from the 10 faculties, 6 learning centres, 3 research institutes and 15 research units. Based on 2016 statistics, UMS produced a total of local 56,266 Alumni around Malaysia with the majority  25,330 graduates (45%) are Sabahans. UMS also produced 826 international graduates from a cross the globe as far as USA (7), Turkey (7), Algeria (9), China (707) and many more!

UMS alumni has achieved tremendous success also in all areas of society by becoming doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, education, ceos, directors and many more.

The Universiti Malaysia Sabah Alumni Association exists to help alumnis stay connected to UMS, and to each other, wherever you are in your life now.
